This red hawthorn used to be classified as laevigata, but the official name is now Crataegus media ‘Paul’s Scarlet’. The fragrant bloom with bright red double flowers lasts from the end of May to July.
The flowering is followed by dark red berries.
The leaves turn to a beautiful yellow color in the fall.
Crataegus is what is called ‘a survivor’: he needs little care and does well on every type of soil.
